Main Salmon River "Cast &
Blast"
Western Idaho's
Unique Combo Outdoor Adventure Chukar Bird Hunting and Fly Fishing
For real outdoorsman there is no other trip
like it. Shotgun in one hand, fishing rod in the other. Idaho's Main Salmon
River is the longest free flowing river in the lower 48 states. Our trip starts
near Whitebird and winds 53 miles through the second deepest canon in North
America to its confluence with the Snake and Hell's Canyon. We encounter serene
stretches of calm water only to be interrupted by distant roar of large roller
coaster waves. This was the home land of Chief Joseph and the Nez Perce Indians
and is rich in history.
Fall hunting and fishing on the Main Salmon
is five days of fun and excitement. Steelhead, large Rainbow Trout and Chukars
make the sportsman's dreams come true. Two guests are accompanied by an
experienced guide in each comfortable driftboat. For those fly fishing both
Rainbow Trout and Smallmouth Bass lurk along the cliffs readily awaiting your
dry fly. Each of our guides are expert fishers and they will give advice on
patterns and where to put them.
Both Chukar and Hungarian Partridge inhabit
the ledges and grasslands of the beautiful Salmon River in good numbers. Due to
their fast flying nature they offer the extreme challenge in upland bird
hunting. Hunting by boat we float along quietly increasing our chances of
either hearing or spotting the birds before they can scatter.
Our comfortable
deluxe camp is set up each night before the guests arrive. High quality tents
and camp gear along with clean toilets and hot showers are all supplied. Each
guide chips in with his cooking speciality to provide a fresh culinary delight
at every meal.
Each day our guests are given a choice of
what they specifically would like to do. One might wish to dry fly fish all day
or possibly to hike in search of chukars. Is is best if the boats travel
separately during the day and rejoin at camp. Of course this makes for lots of
good fish stories. All our guides are excellent fly casting instructors for
those who've not mastered the art. We most certainly will give you plenty of
good advice. Most of all we realize this is your vacation and we'll do our best
to make sure everyone is comfortable and having a great time. We look forward
to meeting you and hope you'll join us on the river!

This is as good as it gets. The food is
excellent, the company great. Meandering down the river is peaceful and
catching fish such as this is a thrill! Oh, and my husband loved it too.
